Safety & Security Guidelines

  • All entrants must possess a CC42 Membership to participate.
  • All entrants must abide by the CC42 and Shiny Garden Convention Policies while on convention premises. costumecon42.org/policies
  • Works must abide by all facility regulations, as well as local and federal laws.
  • Works may not contain or display elements that disparage, harass, or attack any person, gender, gender presentation, pronoun choice, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, national origin, language, culture, religion, age, or affiliation.
  • Works may not represent any national or international tragedies.
  • No real weapons (including but not limited to firearms), even if you have a permit or a license, are permitted on convention premises. No live steel (aka blades of metal that can take an edge), projectiles, or realistic-appearing firearms. No messy substances, open flame/heat or open liquids.
  • Works resembling futuristic or fantasy weapons, boffers, or oversize objects are allowed provided they are not handled in a careless, threatening, or destructive manner against persons or property.
  • Failure to comply with these policies and/or the instructions of staff or security personnel may result in immediate removal from the convention without refund.

Costume Exhibit Rules

  • Entries may be submitted for display starting as early as noon on Friday, March 29, 2024. All entries must be registered and placed no later than NOON on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
  • Must provide your own display method. Any stands provided must be no larger than [enter size] in footprint space.
  • Entries should remain on display for the duration of the conference, if possible. Please arrange early pickup with the Competition Co-Directors.
  • By submitting your entry, you agree that CC42’s official photographer and guests of the conference may photograph and record video of your entry and that those images may be used in promotions for future Costume-Con conferences. You also agree to allow the photographs and video to be posted on Costume-Con.org and the International Costumers’ Guild (ICG) Archives. All other rights to each entry remain with the designers/creators.
